WO Mic - FREE microphone

Introduction

WO Mic can turn an Android phone to be a microphone for your computer. You need not to pay a cent to buy any gadget. And it's mobile if you choose wireless transport. Millions of people have installed it and are using it daily for talking, recording, voice remote control and many other activities.

Download and Install

You need to install programs on both phone and computer.

Phone application

Install WO Mic Pro or WO Mic from Googple Play market.

If you cannot access Google Play market, download WO Mic apk directly.

User guide

Step 1. Choose transport
Depends on system, you can choose different transports as the communication channel between your phone and computer:
  • USB transport. You need to
    1. Enable USB debugging on Android phone
    2. Install USB driver on PC
  • Bluetooth. Please pair your phone with computer if you haven't done that. Turn on Bluetooth on both phone and computer.
  • Wifi. Turn on Wifi on both phone and computer and connect them to same hotspot.
Step 2. Start server on phone
  1. Launch WO Mic Server on phone.
  2. In Settings, choose the transport you intend. You can leave other options as default.
  3. Back to main UI and click Start on main UI to start the server.

Once the state changes to Connected, the server is ready to accept any connection request from client.

Step 3. Connect from client on computer
Platform Instruction
Windows
  1. Launch WO Mic Client
  2. Select Connection -> Connect...
  3. In transport dialog, select chosen transport and input server device. Then click Ok.
Mac OS X
  1. Launch WO Mic Client
  2. Select Connection -> Connect...
  3. In transport dialog, select wifi and input server device. Then click Ok.
Ubuntu
  1. Load driver module
    $ sudo modprobe snd-aloop
  2. Connect from client
    • Conenct by Wifi. You can find the IP address on WO Mic app UI.
      $ sudo micclient-ubuntu-x86_64 -t Wifi 192.168.1.100
    • Connect by Bluetooth.
      $ sudo micclient-ubuntu-x86_64 -t Bluetooth xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
      xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx represents phone Bluetooth address. You can query it on your phone: Settings -> About phone -> Status -> Bluetooth address.
  3. Record
    $ arecord -c 1 -r 48000 -f S16_LE -D "hw:CARD=Loopback,DEV=1,SUBDEV=0" foo.wav

Once client shows to be connected, you can choose WO Mic as the microphone device.
